Volcora Printers: USB WiFi Ethernet setup on Android Tablet in eHopper POS

Overview

There are 2 models of supported Volcora Performance 80mm Thermal Receipt printers:
  • Volcora Performance 80mm Thermal Receipt Printer (USB/WiFi, V-WLRP5 Series)
    SKU: 500215-OC
  • Volcora Performance 80mm Thermal Receipt Printer (USB/Ethernet, V-WRP2 Series)
    SKU: 500210-OC

Before you can use the Volcora Performance 80mm Thermal Receipt Printer on your Windows device, you will have to configure it and set it up with eHopper POS.  

Prerequisites

  • Android tablet running eHopper POS
  • Volcora thermal receipt printer
  • USB cable supplied with the printer
  • USB OTG (On-The-Go) adapter, if required by your tablet
  • Receipt paper loaded into the printer
  • eHopper POS installed and activated
  • Setting up USB connection

    1. Connect the Printer

    1. Turn the printer OFF.
    2. Connect the printer to the Android tablet using:
      • USB cable
      • USB OTG adapter (if your tablet does not have a full-size USB port)
    3. Turn the printer ON.

    2. Configure the Printer in eHopper POS

    1. Open eHopper POS.
    2. Navigate to Settings → Printers→ Search for printer.

    3. Choose the connected Volcora printer from the available devices.
    4. Print the test page.
    5. Save the configuration.

    Setting up LAN connection

    Use the following steps to connect the Volcora Performance 80mm Thermal Receipt Printer (USB/Ethernet, V-WRP2 Series) to your local network.

    1. Connect the printer to network via LAN cable:

    1. Connect the printer to your router or network switch using an Ethernet (LAN) cable.

    2. Power on the printer.
    3. Press and hold the FEED button while turning the printer on to print a self-test page.
    4. Locate the IP Address printed on the self-test receipt.
      Alert

      If the printer shows 0.0.0.0 as its IP address:

      The printer has not obtained an IP address from the network.

      Follow Volcora's Change/Obtain IP of the Printer procedure:

      • Connect the printer via USB and use the Testing Tool to enable DHCP, or 
      • Use the NET Setting Tool to enable Net DHCP over Ethernet.

      After saving the settings, print another self-test page to verify that the printer has obtained an IP address.

    2. Connect the printer to eHopper POS

    1. Make sure your tablet is connected to the same network as printer.
    2. Open eHopper POS.
    3. Navigate to Settings → Printers→ Search for printer.

    4. Choose the connected Volcora printer from the available devices.
    5. Print the test page.
    6. Save the configuration by hitting DONE.

    Setting up Wifi connection

    If you are using the Volcora Performance 80mm Thermal Receipt Printer (USB/WiFi, V-WLRP5 Series), complete the following steps to connect the printer to your wireless network.

    1. Connect via Printer's configuration page:

    1. Make sure the printer is connected and turned on.
    2. Using your mobile phone or tablet, connect to the printer's Wi-Fi network:
      • SSID: WIFI Printer
      • Password: 012345678
    3. Once connected, open a web browser and navigate to:
    4. Log in using the following credentials:
      • Username: admin
      • Password: admin
    5. Open the STA Setting page.
    6. Select the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network you want the printer to join.

      NotesNote: The printer supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi only.

    7. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
    8. Set Obtain an IP Address Automatically (DHCP) to Enable.
    9. Click Save.
    10. The printer will automatically connect to the selected Wi-Fi network, reboot, and print a receipt containing its assigned IP address.
    Idea

    Tip: Keep the printed IP address, as it will be needed when configuring the printer in eHopper POS.

    1. Connect the printer to eHopper POS on tablet:

    1. Make sure your tablet is connected to the same network as printer.
    2. Open eHopper POS.
    3. Navigate to Settings → Printers→ Search for printer.

    4. Choose the connected Volcora printer from the available devices.
    5. Print the test page.
    6. Save the configuration by hitting DONE.
