Checkout customization in POS

Appearance Customization List

Overview

Customize the POS catalog to match your selling workflow. Choose how products and categories are displayed, adjust category navigation, and configure product list columns to make items easier to find during checkout.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the eHopper POS app.

  • Access to Settings → Appearance.

Customize your checkout shortcut and Action Bar

Open Settings → Appearance → Action Bar. Select Change beside Second Checkout Button, choose an available payment method or action, then select Use Selection.

Drag actions within or between Shown on Checkout and Inside More, or use the arrows. Check Checkout Preview to see the arrangement. Primary and secondary navigation have separate Reset to Default controls.

Choosing a shortcut

The selector separates Payment Methods and Actions. Select an option, then confirm with Use Selection. Cancelling the selector keeps the previous shortcut. An action can still require a valid order or the appropriate employee permission before it becomes usable.

Reordering actions

Move frequent actions into Shown on Checkout and less-used actions into Inside More. Use the preview to check the result. Each navigation section has its own reset, so reset only the section you intend to change.

The shortcut can also open an action, such as Notes, Discount, or Refund. Availability depends on permissions and the current order.

Choose how products and categories appear in POS

POS offers tile and list layouts, plus two ways to browse categories. Catalog spacing, paging, dark-mode controls, and matrix price-range presentation have also been refined.

How to use it

Open Settings → Appearance → Catalog. Choose Tiles or List for products. Under category navigation, choose Category Strip to keep categories above products, or Categories First to open a category before viewing its products.

With Categories First, categories can independently use tiles or a list. Product lists support one or two columns in landscape and one column in portrait.

Important — applies to all employees on this register

Changes save automatically and apply to all employees using this register. Other registers, including registers in the same store, are not affected and can be configured independently.

Offline changes synchronize when connectivity returns; avoid clearing local data while changes are pending. Dark Mode is a separate device/browser preference.

POS → Settings → Appearance → Catalog: choose a product layout and category navigation.

Which layout to choose

Tiles emphasize product images; List emphasizes product names and prices. Category Strip keeps category navigation visible while selling. Categories First lets cashiers choose a category before selecting products.

Support check

Catalog choices belong to the register. Check the selected register if another employee sees a different arrangement. Dark mode is a separate device/browser preference.

Product List: choose one or two columns in landscape. Portrait uses one column.

Categories First: choose how the category overview appears, independently of the product layout.
